At Birthing Cultural Rigor (BCR), we envision a more humane and just health system—one that integrates the lived experiences and community wisdom of Black women, girls, and gender-expansive individuals into improvement initiatives that shape quality and patient safety.
We are excited to announce the 2nd Obstetric Patient Safety Summit (OPSS 2025), taking place February 19–23, 2025, at the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt University.
This year’s theme, “Championing Birth Justice for and with Black & Native Youth,” will apply the SACKRED Birth framework to reimagine and transform hospital birthing experiences for Black and Native young adults (ages 18–25).
OPSS stands as the first and only Black woman-led summit directly addressing obstetric racism as an adverse event—a harm impacting Black mothers, gender-expansive parents, their newborns, and their given and chosen kin during labor, childbirth, and the postpartum period in U.S. hospital settings.
We invite you to join this movement by donating or becoming an OPSS sponsor. Your support will help tackle critical issues like obstetric racism and prematurity, driving meaningful and lasting improvements in hospital birthing practices.
Ways to Support:
Consider making a donation to support BCR’s mission, vision and operations.
The tax-exempt donation will be processed by our fiscal sponsor, Elephant Circle, and a non-tax-exempt donation will go directly to Birthing Cultural Rigor (BCR).
If you would like to make a donation as an official OPSS 2025 Sponsor, click here to learn more about the sponsorship package and make payment today.
Together, we can advance birth justice and ensure safer, more equitable care for Black and Native youth.
Thank you for considering this impactful partnership.
